Depending on the tools you’re using, you can connect a projector to speakers directly or indirectly. Each projector has its own own set of inputs and outputs. Commonly, the only speakers used with a basic projector setup are those incorporated into the device itself or speakers connected directly to the projector.

A/V receivers, on the other hand, are typically used in more complex home theater systems to handle the video end and send the audio signal to the speakers.

When watching a DVD or other business presentation, you can increase the volume by connecting extra speakers to your projector. The majority of projectors have an Audio Out port that enables you to use common connecting cords to connect external audio equipment.

The projector’s internal speakers will turn off once the connection has been made in order to avoid interfering with the sound coming from the speakers.
