The platform initially only supported text chat until video chat was added in 2010. The amazing thing about Omegle is that it doesn’t demand that users sign up or confirm their identity before utilizing the service.

The platform keeps track of users’ interests and preferences to enable them to locate and recommend others users with overlying interests. The social media site was a success since, after a month of usage, it was attracting 150000 users per day.

Omegle gain much popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown when people got bored from staying indoors and resorted to making more friends online.

According to Hype Stat, the Omegle website has about 1.9 million visitors and 4.3-million-page impressions every day. It also ranks the United States, India and the United Kingdom as the countries with the highest number of Omegle users.
