Bungie has declared that it would stop ceremonially destroying previous Destiny 2 expansions. During last night’s crowded Destiny 2 announcement webcast, Bungie promised that going forward, no material will be lost due to expansions.

Beyond the launch year of its expansion, the famous Content Vault for the game will still eat up some content, including season content.

However, fans who previously criticized the practice of deleting parts of the game they had paid for have praised the decision not to delete any additional significant portions of the game.

According to Bungie general manager Justin Truman, “We’ve also been working on the Destiny engine behind the scenes, prepping our technology and our game to last for many, many years to come.”

“Both your expansions and Destiny 2 are still in existence. Since the first time we consulted with the Darkness on the Moon, we have wanted this story to be completely playable from beginning to end.”

This implies that the 2019 expansion Shadowkeep will continue to be a part of Destiny 2 along with more recent additions like Beyond Light in 2020 and The Witch Queen in 2022.
