The 45MP full-frame Canon EOS R5 will be the company’s flagship mirrorless camera, replacing the Canon EOS R, EOS Ra, and EOS RP. It is positioned above the 20MP full-frame Canon EOS R6 that was also unveiled at the same time and is made to appeal to professional photographers and videographers.
Is Canon R5 a flagship camera?
Interestingly, despite having a lower resolution than the 50.6Mp Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R, Canon claims that the R5 can resolve more details than these cameras due to a newly developed optical low pass filter.
Phase detection focusing is made possible by the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II sensor design’s pair of photodiodes, but it also enables a number of other intriguing capabilities. For instance, Canon debuted Dual Pixel Raw with the EOS 5D Mark IV, allowing for three different post-capture image adjustments using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software.
Now, Dual Pixel Raw – Portrait Relighting is available in the Canon R5. This enables you to choose the problematic area in a portrait and change your subject’s exposure without changing the background.
