Although the operating system (Garmin OS) used by the Venu Sq is not as fluid as those used by Apple or Samsung’s smartwatches, I found it to be more reliable and responsive than the Fitbit OS. Updates sync more quickly, and there is no lag when choosing options from menus or starting apps.
Notifications have been my main complaint about utilizing the Venu Sq with an iPhone ($500 at Best Buy). The iOS version of the Garmin Connect software merely replicates the alerts that are set up on your phone and does not allow you to customize which notifications are received on your wrist.
Even though it may not be a deal breaker for many, I prefer to have my wrist get only the most crucial notifications, such as calls and text messages, as opposed to everything my phone displays. Android users have more discretion over the notifications they get.
