What company owns Goku?

What is Goku?

Goku is one of the most popular protagonists of video games known worldwide. I am quite sure that you agree with me on this. The Goku character was influenced deeply by the famous Chinese actors Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

The character was initially a human figure with tails but as the video game started to introduce more characters from other planets Goku was later established as an alien.

When was Goku introduced?

The character’s first appearance was in a Japanese magazine published in 1984. The character was introduced as a boy with a monkey tail who practices martial arts and also has super powers.

The ownership of this franchise is controversial to many but after a careful search, we have finally come out with the original owners of the Goku character.

What company owns Goku?

The Goku character was created by Akira Toriyama, an artist in the dragon ball manga series. The Dragon Ball manga series is owned by Bird Studio/Shueisha. This makes them the original owners of the Goku character. Some years later, Shogakukan bought half of the company. This should make them a 50% owner of the Goku character but the contract did not include it.
