Any Qi-certified charger, including the MagSafe Charger, can be used to wirelessly charge an iPhone 8 or later, an AirPods model with a wireless charging case, and other devices.
What does a MagSafe Charger do?
MagSafe accessories, such as chargers, immediately snap into precise alignment thanks to the array of magnets surrounding the charging coil on the back of your iPhone, so the system operates automatically.
Other types of magnetic devices won’t be drawn to or stuck to your phone since Apple created the MagSafe charging standard so that only approved MagSafe chargers and accessories will magnetically attach to the MagSafe surface on the back of an iPhone.
The MagSafe charger can charge recent iPhones starting with the iPhone 8, but it is only designed to work with those devices, such as the iPhone 12 and later models, that have the magnetic charging coil on the back of the device.
