In 2000, Microsoft bought Bungie, and Halo: Combat Evolved, one of Bungie’s games, was used as the Xbox console’s launch title. After selling millions of copies and establishing the Halo franchise, Halo was dubbed the “killer software” for the Xbox.

On October 5, 2007, Bungie announced its separation from Microsoft and the formation of Bungie LLC, a privately held independent business.

Microsoft remained the owner of the intellectual property for the Halo franchise. In April 2010, it agreed to a ten-year publication contract with Destiny, a first-person shooter released in 2014, which was its first project. In 2017, Destiny 2 was released.

Bungie Inc, is an American video game company which has its headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. The studio is owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment. In May 1991, Alex Seropian established the company.

Later, after Jason Jones’ video game Minotaur: The Labyrinths of Crete was made available, Seropian employed Jones as a programmer. The company, which started in Chicago, Illinois, initially specialized mostly in Macintosh games.

The company’s well-known video game franchises include Marathon and Myth.

Oni was developed by a Bungie subsidiary company and released in 2001. The Marathon, Myth, Halo, and other video games were made by them. Destiny series
