The “state of the art” in TV resolution technology today could easily become antiquated tomorrow. Over the past few years, resolution standards have advanced quickly, moving from HD to the next-level Ultra HD, which was subsequently replaced by 4K, to the brand-new 8K, which is already set to take over.

These acronyms can occasionally be confusing, and the distinction between UHD and 4K in particular always prompts inquiries. It’s a common misconception that they all have the same level of resolution, but that’s not totally accurate.

Which is better 4K UHD or 4K?

A little higher than UHD, 4K has a resolution of 4,096 by 2,160 (8.8 megapixels). A higher resolution TV (for example, UHD vs FHD) shows more pixels and enables more details to be shown on an image of the same size.

Everything is richer and more realistic, including the backgrounds, materials, textures, and skin tones of the actors.

The image becomes more exact and detailed the greater the definition and image quality are at the same diagonal. To display the same scene on the same surface as an HDTV, a 4K television has four times as many pixels as an HDTV. The resolution is also increased by a factor of two at the same time.
