The agreement between Sony and Bungie, the studio behind Halo and Destiny, is complete. Both companies confirmed on Twitter on Friday that the $3.6 billion transaction had gone through without any difficulties.

The deal was modest enough to avoid the antitrust investigation that Sony’s rival Microsoft’s proposed concurrent acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $69 billion sparked, despite the fact that it is a sizeable sum for a relatively small company.

Despite the fact that Bungie is a much bigger company than Activision Blizzard, which publishes everything from Overwatch and World of Warcraft to the Call of Duty mega-franchise, Bungie is still in a position to significantly influence Sony’s strategy for upcoming games.

After learning of the Bungie acquisition, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki stated, “The strategic significance of this acquisition lies not only in obtaining the highly successful Destiny franchise, as well as major new IP Bungie is currently developing but also in incorporating into the Sony group the expertise and technologies Bungie has developed in the live game services space.”
