Users of Vine were able to record brief video snippets up to six seconds long using the app’s built-in camera. Users could perform in-the-moment editing or produce stop-motion effects because the camera would only record when the screen was being touched.
Grid and ghost image tools for the camera, curated channels (including themed areas and trending topics/users), the ability to “revine” (share again, similar to Twitter’s “retweet”) videos on a personal stream, and protected posts were among the extra features that were added to the app in July 2013.
Vine introduced Vine Music in August 2015, whose “Snap to Beat” feature produces flawless limitless music loops. Vine said in June 2016 that it was experimenting with allowing users to attach videos that were up to 140 seconds long.
