Omegle is owned and designed by Leif K-Brooks when he was only 18 years of age. On the 25th of March, 2009, the social platform was launched in the United States. It allows users to meet and interact with strangers all across the globe.
Omegle aims at maintaining anonymity among users by not requiring registration and verification. Users are paired with other users by tracking their individual interests and overlapping preferences.
Does Omegle save all chats?
Users after chatting have the option of saving their chat logs or deleting their entire chat logs. Omegle gives the saved chats a log ID number that users can use to access the chats whenever they want.
Users also have the option of publishing their chats on Facebook when they want. Chats by default are not saved in the chat log. However, Omegle has an automated system that scans the entire chat to monitor spam.
The platform 2013 added a monitored video chat to help deal with the issue of profanity and nudity that some of the users were subjected to.
