Does RDP expire?

In order to deliver individual virtualized applications, provide secure mobile and remote desktop access, and give end users the option to run their desktops and applications from the cloud, Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is the platform of choice for creating virtualization solutions for every end customer need.

RDS provides flexible deployment, cost-effectiveness, and extensibility, all supplied through a range of deployment options, such as Windows Server 2016 for on-premises deployments, Microsoft Azure for cloud deployments, and a wide range of partner solutions.

You can utilize MultiPoint Services to provide the most value in scenarios where cost-effectiveness is important and you want to extend the advantages of deploying complete desktops in a session-based virtualization system.

You have the freedom to remotely, securely, and affordably roll out the desktops and applications your users require with these options and configurations.

Does RDP expire?

Yes, but there is a 120-day licensing grace period that starts when the role is deployed and ends when the required client access licenses (CALs) are installed for the Remote Desktop Services (RDS) role in the Windows server.

RDS will operate without any CALs deployed during this grace time. This enables a company to set up and tests its RDS setup in order to make sure everything functions as intended before buying and deploying CALs.
