In a single generation, Nintendo has always released “stop-gap” consoles. Some may even argue that the Switch is merely a stopgap measure, designed to get Nintendo through the previous console generation until it could figure out what to do next.
Regardless of your point of view, most people would agree that the Nintendo Switch OLED is unique. It’s an actual upgrade while also not being one.
It has a nicer OLED screen and a more durable kickstand than the standard Switch, but it doesn’t perform noticeably better.
Not to mention that the Switch OLED is a missed opportunity for Nintendo to release an actual upgrade that would help extend the Switch’s lifespan by a couple of years.
Is it worth buying a switch OLED?
If you play a lot of mobile games, the Switch OLED is an excellent purchase. The Switch OLED isn’t a bad console; it’s ideal for first-time Switch owners.
