Is Obsidian worth anything?

The naturally occurring volcanic glass known as obsidian is created when lava extruded from a volcano rapidly cools with little crystal formation. The rock is an igneous one.

Fesic lava, which is abundant in lighter elements including silicon, oxygen, aluminium, sodium, and potassium, is used to make obsidian. It is frequently discovered near the edges of obsidian flows, which are rhyolitic lava flows.

These flows have a high silica concentration, which contributes to their high viscosity. High viscosity prevents atoms from diffusing through the lava, which prevents the nucleation phase of the production of mineral crystals.

This causes the lava to cool quickly and form natural glass as a result.

Is Obsidian worth anything?

Obsidian was employed in the ancient world to craft some of the most exquisite and robust tools and weapons ever made. Obsidian is still utilized in a variety of ways today, including for cutting tools and jewellery.

Obsidian is still a very valuable substance, despite its worth not being as great as it previously was. So what is the value of obsidian? Depending on the size and quality of the piece, obsidian can range in price.

Obsidian that is rough and unworked often sells for $1.5 to $2 per piece.
