Leif K. Brooks founded and designed Omegle when he was just 18 years old. Omegle is a social platform that allows users to meet and interact with other users across the globe.
The social platform was introduced in the United States on March 25, 2009. Omegle does not require users to undergo any form of registration or verification before using their websites, due to their aim of maintaining anonymity among their users.
The website identifies its users based on the devices` IP addresses. Originally, Omegle was launched with only a text-chat feature up until 2010 when the video–chat feature was introduced.
The social platform kept adding new features to attract more users and also provide quality service. In 2012, Omegle added a new feature known as the interest tag, that gives users the opportunity to input their area of interest before searching for a user to chat with.
The interesting tag improved Omegle`s algorithm by pairing users with others with similar interests.
What does M mean on Omegle?
Omegle users mostly communicate M or F to each other via text or when not using a web camera to identify their age. M stands for a male while F means female.
