What’s the difference between Lenovo Legion 5 and 5 pro?

The Legion 5’s 15.6-inch display is available in three-panel sizes, all of which are 1080p. The most expensive model has a 165Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 300 nits of brightness, and Dolby Vision support.

The middle tier model is limited to 120Hz, 45% NTSC, and 250 nits. Meanwhile, the bottom one is reduced to 60Hz but increased to 100% sRGB and 300 nits. It’s infuriating that the middle tier is dimmer than the cheapest available display.

The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is a complete overhaul of previous generations. It’s more clearly a gaming laptop, made of aluminium, than its recent predecessors, the Legion Y540 and Legion Y530.

Lenovo went for a more streamlined look with those devices, something that looked cool as a gaming laptop but also looked professional if you took it into the office. The lid is no longer flat, and it now features the Legion logo in the centre.

It has white lighting, and like the other 5-series laptops I’ve reviewed, it has all-white lighting. Lenovo offers Legion 5-series laptops with RGB lighting, but the 7-series is where you’d go for full RGB lighting, including per-key control.

In terms of construction materials, the Legion 5 is entirely made of plastic, whereas the Legion 5 Pro is made of aluminium with an anodized finish.
