Airtags help users to keep track of their belongings to prevent theft, or retrieve them when it gets missing. By linking your AirTag to your iPhone, iPad or MacBook, you can constantly keep track of your luggage, your personal effects and even your car, by just attaching your AirTag to them.
It uses an Ultra-wideband network along with Apple’s precision tracking to help you find the location of your misplaced item or stolen vehicle.
However, you can also be tracked by AirTag. Someone who’s looking to stalk you can put an Airtag in your vehicle and proceed to track you home. Criminals can equally hack your AirTag and use it to track your car or bike or other belongings to your home. There has been a sizable number of car theft this way.
AirTags are pretty cheap, costing just about $29 standard. There are however expensive versions of the device in the form of an AirTag Hermès with prices ranging from $299 to $449.
