Bytedance is the original owner of the popular TikTok app. CapCut is a video editing app that was release first for china in 2019. At the time, the app was known as the Jianying. Later in April 2020, the app was made available for the whole world.
The app blew that market with its’ cool features that are offered for free to the general public. CapCut can be used to edit videos for your TikTok, YouTube and Instagram posts. CapCut has since then been one of the best free video editing apps for mobile devices and Windows.

Can I use CapCut in India?
In April 2020, CapCut was made available for the entire world, this includes India. Even though the app was meant to work in all countries, at the time of release, India’s government has placed ban of several Chinese app under the allegation that the apps were in violation of citizen’s privacy and other policies of the country. One of these apps includes the CapCut app and the popular TikTok app.
The government has also cushioned that, if the app was to come back under a different name, there would be legal consequences to the Bytedance company. In view of these, the app was banned from India. In another case, some citizens use some third party apps to still get access to the app from India. Some of such is the VPN apps and other application stores.
Now, it is hard to say that the app cannot be used in India or otherwise. The choice is now up to you to make.
