Sony headphones usually contain a lithium-ion rechargeable battery. You are therefore required to charge the headphones using the supplied micro-USB cable that comes as part of the headphones. Charging usually takes about 4 hours.
Ideally, the headphones should be used when already charged. However, what if you need to use it and cannot wait 4 hours for it to charge?
Can I use my Sony headphones when charging?
Yes, you can use your headphones while charging but there are certain conditions you need to note. First of all, the inbuilt noise-cancelling function cannot be used while charging or if kept connected to the computer after charging is complete.
Again, if you’re using a computer to charge and if the computer enters into hibernation mode while connected to the headset, charging will not be completed properly.
So if you continue to use it, you’ll be losing battery. To fix this, check the setting of the computer before charging. The indicator (red) will go off automatically if the computer enters into hibernation mode. Charge the headset again in this case.
Also, if charging starts while the headset is turned on, the headset will turn off automatically. You’d just have to switch it back on and use it. Note also that using the headphones while charging can make them overheat, in which case they will be disconnected from charging.
