Links are the individual bands that are tightened up with rivets. Movado watches that are spotted by their iconic 12 o’clock dot can have links added to them. Movado watch, one of the expensive timepieces was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1881 by Achille Ditesheim.

The company was at first the workshop of a young Swiss, Achille Ditesheim, who moved with his family from Alsace, France, to the village of La Chaux-de-Fonds in the Swiss Jura Mountains in 1876. The 19 years old Ditesheim set himself and the other 6 craftsmen to manufacture watches.

His small workshop grew quickly so that by 1897 it employed 80 watchmakers. It had become one of the largest watch manufacturers in all of Switzerland and was noted for its technological sophistication. Achille Ditesheim gave his company the name “Movado”.

Movado is an Esperanto word meaning “always in motion”.

The rivets or screws can be removed and another link can be added. If your Movado watch can not fit your wrist comfortably, you can unscrew the rivets and add another set of links to the already existing ones.
