Airdrop is a service released by Apple Inc. in 2011 to allow MacBooks and IPhones to transfer files within a close range by means of wireless communication. This service was first rolled out on the IOS 7. It is very convenient because it allows you to send large amounts of files (Videos, Pictures) without the use of an internet connection but by means of a wireless connection.

This service was limited to only Apple products until 2020 when Google rolled out their first version for android phones called Nearby Share.

Nearby Share is only available for phones operating on Android 6.0 and upwards. This feature allows android devices to share files with each other and it does not extend to iPhones.

Can You Airdrop On Google Pixel?

Google Pixel runs on the Android operating system, thus making it incapable of using airdrop. The Google Pixel is, however, embedded with the Nearby Share system developed by Google to share items among Android devices via wireless. IPhone has the Airdrop feature that enables easy sharing of files among Apple products whiles the Android devices make use of the Nearby Share.
