AirTags were originally designed for Apple users to track their devices and personal effects and to provide extra security for those possessions. It uses an ultra-wide bandwidth network that is very compatible with Apple’s Find My app, working with the Bluetooth device on the phone.
Although not designed for android users primarily, the AirTag provides support to android to an extent.
Notably, Android users cannot register an AirTag with their device, but the NFC functionality support in Android phones can allow an android device to connect to lost AirTags and display any Lost Mode messages.
However, since it primarily cannot connect to android, neither can it Alexa.
The good news for android users however is, Amazon in connection with Tile announced last year that they were working towards a device to revile Apple’s AirTag. It would use the same technology or similar as Apple’s AirTag but will provide more inclusivity by giving support to both Android and Apple devices. This, they say will ensure that android users also enjoy the benefits associated to an AirTag without any hassle.
