Stem Player is a disc-shaped device designed and developed by Kanye West in collaboration with Kano Computing. This device serves as an mp3 equipped with a feature that allows users to manipulate the sound output through the use of sensitive touch.

The CEO of Kano Computing in an interview with Yahoo Finance mentioned that the Stem player creates “a deeper and immersive” experience for consumers. It provides the option to listen to the music as available and also as the user sees fit.

The Stem Player works as an mp3 and also as a portable remixer. This allows users to not only upload their own music but also enable them separate music into various elements (create loops, extract vocals, effects, only instrument) etc. without using any big setup. The Stem player is controlled by the Light Stripes on it.

The Stem player comes preinstalled with Kanye West`s first Donda Album. According to the Grammy award rapper, the only way to listen to his Donda 2 album is via the stem player.

He continued to mention that he won’t be releasing his second album via any traditional streaming service such as Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal. These are all efforts to enable other musicians to have control of the revenue they generate via their music and also prove other means for awarding bodies to determine streams in giving out awards.
