Movado watch is a brand of watches manufactured by the Movado group. Movado means “always in motion” in Esperanto; the world’s most widely spoken constructed internationally auxiliary language.

The company was founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881 in the watch-making town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

In 1983, the company was purchased by the North American Watch Corporation. It was founded by Gedalio Grinberg. The watches are known for their signature metallic dot at 12 o’clock and modest style.  The dot at 12 o’clock symbolizes the sun at high noon.

The company markets the Museum watch, designed by the American designer Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. Movado Group’s brands include Movado, Concord, EBEL, and MVMT, plus licensed brands Olivia Burton, Coach, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, Scuderia Ferrari, Rebecca Minkoff, and Uri Minkoff

The company also has other sets of timepieces in its collection of watches.

How Long Should A Movado Watch Last?

A Movado quartz timepiece has a 1.55 Volt silver-oxide battery that is specifically designed for watches. It will last approximately 18-36 months under normal use.

However, the frequent use of the special functions that come with Movado watches, such as the stop timer can actually shorten its battery life span. It is a known fact that Movado watches can last so long as one takes good care of them.
