A sound card is also called an audio card. It is a device which can be slotted into a computer to allow the use of audio components for multimedia applications.

It is both an internal and external expansion card that provides audio signals to and from a computer. This component translates digital audio signals to analogue ones and vice versa.

Normally, the sound is produced under the control of computer programs that can be heard through speakers or headphones.

Some computers usually have problems with their sound. In this case, it is necessary to add a sound card to boost the audio component of the computer.

It is very frustrating to have a computer without a sound component when you want to listen to something on your computer.

Inasmuch as a sound card helps in hearing a sound from the computer, it is technically an optional component.
