iTunes is a piece of software or computer application that lets you add to, organize, and play a collection of digital media on your computer. It also helps in syncing your media collections to a portable device.
iTunes has become a very important piece of software needed for unforeseen circumstances. In situations where an iPad or iPhone is frozen, iTunes does the magic!
iTunes was first released by Apple in 2001 as a simple music player for Mac computers. What was believed to be a simple music player has over the years re-designed to serve other purposes. Hardware synchronization manager, multimedia content manager, and e-commerce platform were its new roles.
iTunes also enables its users to create playlists and synchronizes media content with handheld devices. Some of these handled devices are iPhones and iPad. It is also able to assist users to stream internet radio, films, and television shows.
But the big question is;
Is iTunes dead?
In 2019, some 18 years after iTunes was released, Apple executive Craig Federhigi made it official that, “iTunes is dead on Mac”. But split the version of macOS into separate Music, Podcast, and TV apps.
Nonetheless, iTunes will continue to exist for the time being.
