Is starlink faster than 5G or slower?

Before Starlink came to be, fiber network was the leading network offering fast internet connection. Working by using light to transmit data and images over distances, even going as far as 100 kilometers with little error and latency rate.

Starlink which is a satellite internet is quite unique and different from other types of broadband technology including cable or fiber.

Though Starlink is currently not faster than fiber, what with fiber network speed being around 1s and Starlink speed being 20ms, it is predicted to beat fiber soon in speed.

5G on the other side uses 5G uses radio waves to transmit data through the air to your device. Since 5G uses higher radio frequencies, it is able to transmit data faster than any mobile technology.

Is Starlink faster than 5G?

To be fair, Starlink’s merit is in its reach (reaching remote areas with no problem) not its speed. However, Starlink is still slightly faster than 5G. The difference might have been negligible if 5G performs to its full potential.

5G can pass the 1 Gbps mark, and even all the way up to 10 Gbps, but most 5G providers are showing 50+ Mbps. Comparatively, Starlink’s speed reports are showing between 50 and 150 Mbps.

Those Starlink is not faster than cable or fiber, it is certainly faster than 5G.
