Is starlink faster than fiber currently?

Before Starlink came into existence, fiber network was the only way through which one could get a fast internet connection. Fiber networks function by using light to transmit data and images over vast distances, going up to 100 kilometres or more, with little, negligible even, or no error rates.

Fiber optic connections functioned from glass fibers designed to transmit information at a speed of up to 200 gigabits per second.

Starlink is one of the newest forms of internet connectivity, designed to provide connection speeds with an average of 25 Mbps.

Starlink is unique from other types of broadband technology like cable or fiber because Starlink is satellite internet, a technology that is relatively new.

Is Starlink faster than fiber?

Fiber internet connection’s latency speed is said to be around 17 ms, making it faster than cable. Starlink is had 20ms at its launch date, offering such low-latency service perfect for gaming and high speed data transmissions.

In time, it is predicted the latency will drop to 10ms or perhaps even lower.

These predictions stipulate Starlink to eventually become one of the fastest internet services with bandwidth, faster than fiber network. Starlink may not be faster than fiber now, but it’s bound to be soon enough.
