The urge to provide the world with global connectivity and high-speed internet has fueled the race to space and the use of satellites to provide them. As such we have companies like SpaceX, Amazon, Google, Facebook, and SoftBank all competing to provide humans with that technology advancement to allow communication in even the most remote areas.

SpaceX led by Elon Musk believes in this vision. As such, it provides satellite internet services through Starlink to people in remote areas in certain parts of the world, gradually edging to go global.

OneWeb which was launched several decades ago has also set satellites into orbit in hopes of achieving the same thing. Both companies launched their own satellite constellations with the same goal.

Starlink’s mission is to build a low-cost, satellite-based broadband network that is capable of delivering high-speed internet access to people all across the globe. Starlink tries to keep the operation and maintenance costs of these satellites to the minimum as they build and launch them internally.

OneWeb, the global communications company, in collaboration with Japan’s SoftBank Group, Qualicum, Airbus Defence and Space, and others have also launched satellites with the goal of providing high-speed internet access to anywhere on earth.

OneWeb vs Starlink: which is better?

Though both OneWeb and Starlink have the mission to deliver global connectivity through a global satellite constellation connecting everyone all over the globe, Starlink’s strategy of minimizing the cost of this has served in how reliable people find their network, the cost of using their network and the subscriptions they have.

Per this, one can say that when it comes to the race between Starlink and OneWeb, Starlink is leading and can be considered better than OneWeb.
