Raindrop on an Apple watch is an icon display for a feature called “water lock”. This feature is used when the owner is about to get the watch into contact with water.

The feature is able to prevent the screen from involuntary operations when the Watch comes into contact with water. Since the touch screen of Apple watches is sensitive to water, this feature is to prevent such occurrences.

What does the raindrop mean on Apple Watch?

The raindrop icon is a better representation of this feature as it readily prepares the device for rain or even a shower. To access this feature, you need to head to the control panel of your device which is just a swipe from the bottom of your watch’s screen upward.

The icon is located down the menu so you would have to scroll a little.

The main challenge many people face is turning off the water lock feature after they have turned it on. Since the water lock feature disables the touch screen, you will not be able to navigate the screen with a touch.

To turn the water lock feature off, you have to scroll the digital crown at the side of your watch. You will notice the water drop icon appear once you start scrolling.

You will need to scroll in the same direction until the raindrop becomes bigger and eventually bursts. This will also trigger a vibration that expels water from the watch’s speakers.
