Apple has now added the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to its list of vintage products. What this means is that it will discontinue selling these phones and will soon stop offering support for them.

Apple has sold millions of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models ever since they launched it back in 2015. According to sources, the iPhone 6 Plus is only safe till 2023, while the IPhone 6 only has up to the end of this year to be supported.

Being on the vintage list has a lot of disadvantages including difficulty in sourcing out spare parts, for repairs when need be. It is noteworthy that the vintage period for Apple products lasts for two years before Apple officially declares the models “obsolete.” Once the model becomes obsolete, Apple will completely cut off the handset.

However, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus will not get the latest iOS updates; Updates will now start from iPhone 6S or later models.

Well by standards today, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus are already outdated due to some of their specs especially with the advent of newer models with sharper cameras, longer-lasting batteries and bigger storage capacities.
