What’s a Nano-SIM? If you’ve been using a SIM card for a while, you would know that it didn’t always use to come in the tiny chip formats that we have nowadays.

A SIM card is basically a card with an embedded chip that is inserted into your mobile phone. Nano-SIM, the smallest of them all are technically known as 4FF (which simply means 4th Form Factor).

To make sure that consumers always use the right size for their phones, some carrier companies have combined the Standard SIM (Mini-SIM), the Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM into one card that can be chipped apart based on your need. This is a Triple SIM, also some call it a Tri-SIM.

Apple introduced this concept of nano-sim with the iPhone 5 which was the first phone to use the Nano-SIM sized card, in 2012.

What’s a Nano-SIM?

The smallest SIM card we have nowadays is the Nano-SIM format. A nano-sim measures 12.3 × 8.8 × 0.67 mm.

Most current mobile phones and mobile devices that use SIM card technology nowadays use a Nano-SIM slot.
