Apple boasts to be one of the phone companies with the tightest security systems in the world. One of the core values upon which the company built its brand is the security of its system.
However, time and again, some individuals or groups of individuals have managed to hack into apple’s security system, undermining the strength of iOS.
The most recent Apple breach was in September of 2021. Researchers discovered that iOS devices had been infected with a spyware through a zero-click exploit.
The Pegasus spyware, as it was called could record users’ calls, messages, and emails, and even turn on their cameras and microphones without their knowledge or without any prompt from users.
Who hacked apple in 2021?
The spyware, Pegasus, was produced by the NSO Group, an Israel-based company that markets its spyware to governments such as Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
It is speculated that these governments then use spyware to surveil terrorists and to spy on activists, politicians, and even journalists.
