Most of us may have wondered at one point in time why Apple was called Apple. The simple name seemed to hold so much history, who chose it and why?

Well in a 1980 video, Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs revealed the company, when it was founded on April 1, 1976, was named ‘Apple Computers’ for one simple reason. They wanted the name to appear before their previous employer Atari in listings.

They just wanted a competitive advantage in terms of style, sophistication and simplicity. He admitted that after several brainstorming to find a name that would encompass all that, they came up empty. They could not find any name, remotely niche except Apple. Hence the adaptation of the name.

Apple has been one of the most well-known phone companies in the world, selling over 20 different devices to millions of customers over the world. With its half-bitten apple logo, the brand provides both luxury, sophistication and great technology with its iPhones, iPods, MacBooks, AirTags etc.

With an operating system that they deem to support for years in the end by providing updates for more than 5 years at a time, their devices are also a great investment and a way to save money on gadgets. The name Apple does indeed suit the company.
