Allegedly, the pandemic caused Sony to delay the reveal of PS5 severally from February to June fueling up people’s anticipation for it.

The pandemic allegedly also lead to manufacturing and shipping timelines being stretched while demand still exceeded supply.
Resellers, also noticing the high demand of the PS5, were also aggressively stocked up on the PS5 as they are available in order to sell them at a much higher price on eBay and StockX.
Again, due to cryptocurrency and the high demand for graphics cards, AMD GPUs has become unavailable. PS5 and Xbox use AMD GPUs for their graphics so that poses some challenges for Sony and could possibly be one of the reasons PS5 is a bit out of stock.
