Starlink satellite service also provides internet assess primarily targeted at rural areas, and eventually targeted at transcending beyond the earth’s surface to encompass the whole globe.

After just a few years of successful launches, the Starlink project had more than 1,000 satellites delivered into orbit. In fact, Starlink can boast more than 2,000 functional satellites orbiting overhead.

Musk’s company also disclosed that Starlink was serving more than 10,000 customers at the beginning of this year.

Will Starlink replace cell towers?

Despite its rave and successes in the world of technology and internet connectivity, Starlink will not replace cell towers. However, it would replace how towers get access to the internet.

Satellites are not primarily designed to handle the great cell phone data capacity that consumers are demanding today through satellite beams that are sent to a lot of locations. However, they are unable to provide infrastructure similar to traditional cell towers or accommodate such heavy data demands.
