Starlink uses satellites to provide internet connectivity to remote and select areas all over the globe. SpaceX’s satellite which Starlink internet falls under is primarily owned by Elon Musk who serves as CEO.
As per recent reports, Starlink is said to boast of over 2000 functional satellites that are orbiting over. The company is also said to have more than 10000 customers subscribed.
Starlink costs about $99 per month now. For a first time customer, you’d need a $499 satellite dish and router. That fee is one-time only.
For a business owner or one who needs more rigorous internet access, Starlink offers Premium Starlink which costs $500 per month. You’d also need to purchase a Premium Starlink dish for $2500.
Will Starlink’s monthly cost go down?
During the 36th annual Space Symposium event in Colorado Springs, SpaceX president, Gwynne Shotwell explained that the company currently loses money on each of those user terminals but assured users that it’s set to make big progress to reduce the cost in that area.
With this in mind, it is possible that Starlink monthly will go up, instead of down in the coming years unless the company finds a way around it.
